A Christmas miracle of sorts. Also completely expected given the people involved.

In the event you could use a little schadenfreude joy on this Sunday before Christmas, I offer you this gem:

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo invited more than 900 people to the State Department for a holiday party last week.

A party of this size not only ignored CDC guidelines, but it also violated current Washington DC law, but since when did public health experts or legal jeopardy stop anyone in this administration from doing whatever the hell they wanted?

When asked about the wisdom of such a large gathering, the White House and Trump himself assured reporters that the number of holiday parties were reduced this year and guests were encouraged to wear masks.

As if these steps would make it safe to have 900 people in a single room at one time.

Happily, fewer than 70 of the 900 invited guests agreed to attend, and only about half of those who RSVP’d actually showed up.

So kind of embarrassing for the idiot douchebag who hoped for a special evening with his 900 closest friends.

Also, none of the photos from the party depict anyone in a mask except for the waitstaff. So it was a party filled with selfish, stupid, morons.

Not surprising, the next day Pompeo was forced into quarantine after being exposed to someone at the party who tested positive for COVID-19.

To review:

The Secretary of State ignored CDC guidelines and Washington DC law and invited more than 900 people to a Christmas  party.

About 3% of his invited guests showed up.

None of his guests wore masks or practiced social distancing.

Amongst his tiny number of guests was someone who tested positive for COVID-19, which means Pompeo will now need to self isolate through Christmas.

Kind of a perfect metaphor for this self-serving, utterly inept, godforsaken administration. Don’t you think?
