Your daughter does not live in a world where she can make fun of another girls’ appearance or clothing because in our culture girls are strongly judged on how they look; at an early age we start working at it, allocating precious resources -time, money, etc. – towards it. Men do not have style icons, but the majority of females can immediately tell you whose style they most admire. It’s a thing. We compliment each other on on clothes because we know the effort that goes into choosing the perfect outfit. Sad, but true. Men, conversely, are judged on other merits first, and in a perfect world women would be too. We can make fun of Trump’s combover because he’s a rich man and his hair does not define him or his self worth. Imagine what would happen if Hilary had Trump-hair, or stopped wearing makeup. Far more scandalous.
