I feel sorry for this on-demand, Netflix-generation of children who we are raising.
They will never experience the high stakes excitement of running to the bathroom and the refrigerator during a single commercial break, only to hear your sister shout, “Hurry, it’s back! It’s back!”
… thus sending you hurtling over furniture and crashing down onto the sofa, head first, just in time.
And if you didn’t make it?
Gone forever. Or at least until summer reruns. Possibly never to be seen again.
Television viewing used to be a high pressure, high stakes endeavor, requiring strategy and athleticism.
Digital television, streaming platforms, and the damn pause button has stolen away so much excitement from these poor kids.
