Dear real estate agents: They’re just houses.

I have a friend who is a real estate agent. The other day she was explaining to me that housing prices in our area are flat because there is so much inventory right now.

“You mean houses,” I said. “Right? Inventory means houses for sale. You’re not also selling shacks and sheds and huts and igloos and wigwams or castles. You’re just selling houses. Your inventory is just houses. Right? Just say there are too many houses for sale right now.”

She was amused, but she may have been pretending.

I don’t care. I stand in perpetual opposition to assigning a less specific name to something that already has a good name.
