I’ve always been impressed by our children’s ability to entertain themselves for long stretches without any parental intervention.
It’s nothing we can take credit for, unless Elysha and I are so boring that our kids have been forced to find ways to have fun without us.
My son is especially happy doing things that I would find exceptionally mundane and boring. Yesterday, my wife taught him how to use the foot pedal to automatically open the trash can lid.
He spent the next 30 minutes looking for things to throw away.
He’s also perfectly happy creating orderly piles and lines before destroying them completely.
