Other than his invitation to students to rat out the perpetrator (anonymously, no less, which is always the most cowardly and despicable means of conveying a message), I kind of think this professor handled the situation perfectly.
It wouldn’t be the right approach for fifth graders, of course, but I don’t think it’s too far off, either.
