These are not “young boys” and “kids.” They are monsters. Nothing more.

If you’re wondering what at least some (but a lot) of young Republicans in this country are saying or allowing to be said absent opposition, look no further than the Young Republicans Telegram group chat that was leaked last week.

Leaders of Young Republican groups throughout the country actually worried openly in texts about what might happen if their Telegram group chat was ever leaked, but instead of shuttering their vile string of hate or exiting the group, they continued to actively participate.

“If we ever had a leak of this chat we would be cooked,” one wrote.

They referred to Black people as monkeys and “the watermelon people.”

They discussed putting their political opponents in gas chambers.

They talked about raping their enemies and driving them to suicide.

They lauded Republicans who they believed supported slavery.

William Hendrix, the Kansas Young Republicans’ vice chair, used the N-word and other racial slurs more than a dozen times in the chat.

Bobby Walker, the vice chair of the New York State Young Republicans at the time, referred to rape as “epic.”

Peter Giunta, who at the time was chair of the same organization, wrote in a message sent in June that “everyone that votes no is going to the gas chamber.”

In the defense of these vile, hateful bigots, the Vice President referred to their messages as “edgy, offensive jokes” made by “kids… especially young boys.” He said he did not want “a country where a kid telling a stupid joke — telling a very offensive, stupid joke — is cause to ruin their lives.”

The ages of people in the chat ranged from 24 to 35 years old. Many of them already held positions of power in the Republican Party at the state and national levels. Several work in the Trump administration.

JD Vance has an odd definition of what constitutes a young boy.

Just kidding.

JD Vance is a damn liar. A cowering servant to politicians who can’t afford to have the stain of bigotry assigned to their party. By covering up and making excuses for these people, he is complicit in their statements.

Anyone on that chat who failed to stand in opposition to the blatant bigotry is also complicit.

I work with “kids” and “young boys” — ten-year-old children. I’ve been teaching them for 27 years. I have never — not once — heard a single kid speak like this.

These are not the words of kids and young boys as JD Vance would have you think. These are grown-ass men, ages 24-35, who already occupy positions of power in our country.

They are also vile bigots, misogynists, and fools. They traffic in violent rhetoric and Nazio propoganda.

Every single person in this group chat should be expelled from the Republican Party and publicly shamed.

Instead, the second most powerful person in the Republican Party defends them.
