Looking for a home

Last year, I wrote and performed “Shovel” — my second solo show at Theaterworks in Hartford.

Two sold-out performances that went exceptionally well and were well received on the back of my previous show, “You’re a Monster, Matthew Dicks” which was performed on the same stage two years earlier for three sold-out shows.

My director and I are now looking for another place to perform the show, with our sights set on the bright lights of off-off-Broadway.

Maybe quite a few more offs.

If you happen to own a theater, know someone who owns a theater, sit on the board of a theater, know the creative director of a theater, are married to the creative director of a theater, or could somehow hijack, commandeer, or pirate a theater for the evening, and could help make this happen, it would be appreciated.

A few good things about the show:

  1. The show does not require a set and can be performed in front of a curtain or even an existing set. A few lighting cues and sound are all that I need.
  2. We have a video of the show available upon request.
  3. We’re happy to slot the show in between other shows, so if you happen to have an empty weekend or need a filler between shows, it’s an easy lift for me to come in and out for a handful of performances and earn the theater some unexpected profits.
  4. It’s a very good show. We’re really proud of it. It’ll make an audience laugh a lot, cry a little, and talk a lot after the show.
