In case you didn’t notice, the Patriots are back on top.
They are an excellent football team once again.
After blowing out the Cleveland Browns 32-13 yesterday — a team with the best defense in the NFL — they are 6-2 on the year, which puts them in first place in their division and second place overall in their conference.
Yesterday’s game was a good one. I attended with my friend, Kaia, and it featured an excellent sausage-and-pepper sandwich, a perfect autumn day, and some outstanding football.
The game was close in the first half, with the Patriots kicking a field goal just before halftime to take a 9-6 lead. Then they emerged from the locker room in the second half and gave the Browns a proper thrashing.
Other than one terrible punt, an interception, and a fumble on the goal line that turned into a safety and two points for the Patriots, and Miles Garrett’s five sacks, the Patriots played a brilliant game.
Our quarterback, Drake Maye, looks like a budding superstar.
Our offense is piling up yards and points. Our defense is surprisingly excellent. Our special teams have been solid. The coaching staff is experienced and prepared every week.
I’m relieved.
We’ve suffered long enough.
There are kindergartners in my school who haven’t seen the Patriots win a Super Bowl.
A travesty!
Perhaps this aching, long six-year drought might finally come to an end soon.
Those poor little kids deserve better.
