This movie looks great, but I’m sure the book was better
I loved the book that this movie is based upon. I’m sure this film will be outstanding, but there’s no way it will top that novel.
Read MoreFinding common ground with a reasonable, albeit bigoted, pastor
Last week I wrote a post asking if it was so hard to imagine Jesus supporting same sex marriage. In response, a reader forwarded a piece by Nate Pyle, the Lead Pastor at Christ’s Community Church in Fishers, Indiana. Pyle is opposed to same sex marriage and views homosexuality as immoral, but he took a stand against Indiana’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act …

Elysha thinks I’m crazy. I think not. I bought a new lawnmower from Lawnboy. Their motto: Easy to handle. Hard to beat. These two sentences are incongruous. The first describes the handling of the lawnmower while in use. The second compares the lawnmower to other undefined lawnmowers in some nonspecific competitive way. These two things don’t go together.…

Instead, I found myself watching one of the most captivating and heart wrenching five minutes of video that…

I grew up watching The Brady Bunch. I loved The Brady Bunch. Sadly, not everything on The Brady Bunch was as wholesome as it seemed. Barry Williams (Greg) and Maureen McCormick (Marcia) had a serious fling while filming the show. Barry Williams and Florence Henderson went on at least one date according to Henderson. Barry Williams had…

Read MoreIs it really so hard to imagine Jesus supporting same sex marriage?
In an Op-Ed in the New York Times last week, Louisiana Governor and Republican Presidential candidate Bobby Jindal writes that he is “holding firm against gay marriage.” If I were a cartoonist, I would draw an exaggerated, boy-like image of Jindal, wearing tiny wooden shoes and standing against a crumbling, leaky dike with his fingers plugging up one…
