Watching this video made me realize that human beings have been constantly and consistently killing each other in organized fashion for hundreds of years, and at an astonishing rate.
I can’t believe that I haven’t found myself in the midst of a battle yet.
A brutal species, that we are. It’s not because of our need for food, it’s more inspired by our need to share the earth. Sharing is hard in pre-school, and it doesn’t seem to get much easier as we age. We also distrust anyone whose god is not like our own. Religion seems to me to be the root of many wars.
I have found myself in this midst of a battle(9/11 in NYC), but was fortunate to survive it, however scarred. Then came a very low period for our country, the Bush years. I look forward to having our troops come home from Afghanistan and hopefully, an era of peace in our lifetime.
