MEMOIRS OF AN IMAGINARY FRIEND, which published in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa back in March, continues to receive positive press overseas and even some here in the US (it publishes in the US on August 21 of this year).

Here’s a roundup of a few of the most recent reviews:
- A blog post about the book by author Ellen Meeropol
- A review from a British book blogger
- A review from an equally astute British book blogger
- A blog post by the inestimable Melissa Klug on a recent book event (our favorite weekend of the year) in Manchester, VT, which includes a lovely photo of the book and an even lovelier description of my wife.
And to balance all this good news with a little bad, here is the first negative tweet about the book that I have seen, written by @trs41 (Tanya Saxton):
“finished Memoirs Of An Imaginary Friend by Matthew Green. Repetitive & daft, don’t bother. http://amzn.to/GDhH1D #Kindle”
I guess you can’t please everyone.

I just finished reading ‘Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend’ and I loved it. It is a remarkable feat to write a book for an adult, in a child’s voice, and sustain it throughout with such incredible authenticity. The premise of this book is like no other book I’ve ever read; what a great, fresh idea! I love how Green never ‘told’ us Max was autistic, but ‘showed’ us by his actions. This guy knows children and he can write! I will now seek out every other book Green has written because I love the way he writes. I already miss Max & Budo. That is the sign of a great writer. Thanks Green for a truly wonderful book; I first bought the ebook version and then spent half my pension on a ‘paperback’ version. (Books are expensive in Australia.)
So happy to hear that you enjoyed the book! You’ve made my day!
If you’re looking for other books by me, you should look under my real name, Matthew Dicks. My UK publisher felt that my real last name might offend British sensibilities and requested the change. Green is my wife’s maiden name.
Again, so so happy you liked the book. Thanks!
Sally, I’m on page 268 of MIF and loving it. Can’t wait till you read Milo and Something’s Missing. You’re gonna love em.
